You can order most things online and get them delivered directly to your door now, clothes, groceries, gifts. Do you like it? I love internet shopping, i love the convenience, I love being able to order a gift and get it delivered direct to the person if need be, I love it!

What about ordering a cake through the post though? I have to admit when I was asked to have a taste of Baker Days Valentines Letterbox cake I was sceptical, how on earth could a cake travel through the mail, enter your house through the letterbox and be tasty and in one piece?

Well I was about to find out!

So, I put in my order for a beautiful looking personalised valentine cake and sat back and waited!

So what happened next? Well, you will never believe it, but a white box came through the letterbox, yep actually through the letterbox and landed on the mat! In the box was a small card, a packet of love hearts and a round cake tin that said just for you on it! I was worried about opening the tin, would I find a cake in there or would it be something that once was a cake?

bakerDays Cake

Much to our pleasure it was indeed a cake, and not the tiny cake you would expect from the way it had travelled, you could get 4 decent sized slices (maybe more depending on how you cut!)  and added to that; an absolutely gorgeous smelling cake at that. As soon as I open the tin the smell hit me and it made me want to eat the cake straight away, yum! The cake was a surprise for hubby, and he was impressed! The writing on it was perfect, the picture great and the fact it had come in the post really made him smile!

So it had passed the letterbox test and the attractiveness test, so there was only one real test left – the taste test! We cut into the cake, shared it out (well we all had to test) and drooled a little….it was delicious! bakerDays Cake two

To say the cake had survived the journey is an understatement, it was in one piece, moist and tasty! It was fantastic, Monkey and the Mouse both had some and enjoyed it and Hubby thought I was the best wife ever (well he thinks that anyway, but the cake got me brownie points!).  There was a small bit left that Hubby had a couple of days later and he said it was still good, hadn’t dried out at all!

This is a unique idea, something I have never seen before and something I thought wouldn’t work, but actually I have tried it and I like it! The fact you can send someone a cake even if you can’t be with them for a special occasion is brilliant! There are over 400 designs and your choice doesn’t stop there, you can have sponge, carrot, gluten free and more!

So for valentines this year, consider sending a cake – it will be worth it!

We were sent the cake for the purpose of this review, all thoughts are honest

We are coming to the end of our ‘test period’ with our Maclaren products, so here we are to wrap up with a final round up of what we think.

Maclaren Junior Techno xt

The toddler (Legs) was lucky enough to receive this pushchair, and as soon as it arrived he loved it, there were no worries of it being a ‘girl’s toy’ at all – probably because he sees Daddy pushing around his baby sister (Mouse) in a pushchair.

Legs loves that it is a ‘real life’ toy, he feels grown up playing with it and it is so cute watching him act all parent like with his toys as he takes them for a walk, he puts his shopping in the basket and lies them down when they have fallen asleep.

The Novelty hasn’t warn off at all, I was have expecting it to fall by the wayside – as toys often do when new toys arrive over Christmas, but it is the perfect accessory to the new toys! He can use it to take Loopy to the shop (He got a till) or Sweetie Pie can sit in it to watch the Big Gig (he also got a guitar)!

It seems this is one of them toys that will go on and on, the play will just adapt and it will grow with him!

Both Mummy and Daddy loved it too. Daddy because it is so easy to put together, Mummy because it is so realistic without being complicated, and it keeps the children happy for hours; even the Mouse at 9 months old likes to have a look and putting things in and out the basket!

A definite Thumbs up from us!

Beginning…………..by Maclaren Travel Kit for Baby

Mouse was a perfect tester for this gift set of trial sized products, it is hard for her to tell me exactly what she thinks being so young, but I can happily tell you she loved the products!

As you will have seen from our previous review, the first day we used the items she slept though the night for the first time in six months – bliss, and I would say they have had a calming effect since too! The smell is lovely, they are easy to use and we will definitely keep using them!

The talc and nappy cream is in the changing bag from a visit to the in-laws, well I wanted to make sure we had something with us as we rushed out the door on a impromptu visit! In fact from now on a couple of items will live in the bathroom and a couple in the bag, so wherever we are, we will have them to hand!

Another definite thumbs up!!

So, it is only three more sleeps till Christmas day, but many people are still shopping – are you one of them?

As you are aware after reading our Initial Thoughts and our Part two blog posts, we have been lucky enough to be chosen as Mac Kid Testers and so far we are loving our job! As for last minute shopping I would recommend both products we are testing!

For the Toddlers, the Junior Techno xt, it has provided hours of fun for my little boy and yesterday it was a hit with a little girl who came round for a playdate too!

For the babies, the ‘Beginning……’ Travel kit for Baby, a perfect selection of travel sized products which makes a lovely gift and gives the parents a chance to test the items before they buy! These are fabulous products that would make wonderful gifts (and I am not just saying that because they were supplied to me, this is an honest opinion, I will be checking out other items in their range for future gifts!)

Find the Maclaren at their shop online, on facebook, on twitter and available through other stockists!

You may have seen the first Maclaren post introducing what items we were sent and our intial thoughts! So after a few days with our Maclaren bits, it is time to do a bit more reviewing and tell you about actually using the products!

Firstly we were sent the Maclaren Junior Techno xt pushchair and it was instantly a hit with Legs (our 2.5 year old).  As soon as it was up he was pushing it around with Loopy the rabbit in the seat and Sweetie Pie the bear in the ‘back seat’ (or basket to you and me!). I have never seen someone have so much fun walking up and down the living room before, and to be honest our living room isn’t that big! I think the only thing he didn’t like about it was Sharing!

Legs very quickly started role playing to how we use the ‘real’ pushchair, ‘Loopy is tired’ and he would lay the seat down into the recline position or ‘it’s so bright’ and he would pull the hood (lid to him) forward! He loves how realistic it is!

Mouse (8 Months old) was very intrigued with the pushchair too, she kept going over for a look and even pulled her self up to hold the handles (under close supervision obviously), although they were too high for her!

Mummy (me) and Daddy are very impressed with the pushchair, the design is lovely, it is very easy to put up and collapse for storing and it entertains the children for ages!

So onto our second item, the ‘Beginning…by Maclaren’ Travel Kit for Baby! The set includes Absorbing Dusting Powder, Massage Oil, Comforting Room Mist for Baby, Bath Milk, Nappy Change Balm, Soap and Celebration Candle, all in handy travel sizes with lavender essential oils. To be completely honest, I am not that keen on the smell of Lavender, if it is mild I can quite like it, but too strong and I can be turned off instantly! Well, when I first opened the box – it smelt lovely, I could smell the lavender, but it was not overpowering at all!

During the mouse’s bath time yesterday we used some of the products, testing each for smell and usage! The soap was great, the smell was fairly mild and the soap did it’s job great! After the bath we put on the absorbing dusting powder (talc to me) and it was lovely, it went on with ease, didn’t leave the skin white and it wasn’t at all chalky like I remember talc being, we actually used for Baby and Toddler! I didn’t use the nappy cream as that is one thing that smelt quite strong of lavender, will get hubby to try that out at some point! Finally we spritzed her (and the 2.5yr old’s) bedroom with the room mist!

All I can say is that mouse slept through for the first time in six months (8pm – 6am) and Legs had a lie in till 8am……..I think something worked, don’t you??!!

My two little ones (Legs and Mouse) have been chosen as official Maclaren Kid Testers, we were so excited and eagerly awaited the delivery of our parcel…then the snow took hold which delayed it a bit, but this just built up our excitement!

On Friday evening our parcel from Maclaren finally arrived, Legs saw the brown packaging and started jumping up and down – I hadn’t even told him what was in it, just a ‘surprise’, but that was enough for him! When the box of the toy that had been sent was revealed there was only one word that escaped his mouth ‘WOW’!

So what had we been sent……

For Legs we received the Maclaren Junior Techno xt pushchair. Our intial impressions are:

Me (Mummy): I loved the look of it and the dandelion design is soo cute

Legs: It it sure to say he liked it – couldn’t wait to be pushing it around

Daddy: Definitely a hit with the ease of putting it together, a couple of clicks and it was done!

Mouse was sent a lovely item from the ‘beginning……..’ range, a travel kit for baby, it contains seven trial size products (with lavender). Mouse couldn’t really tell me what her initial thoughts were being 8 months old, but I can tell you that on opening the box the smell was gorgeous, we can’t wait to try the products out!

Check back soon for the second stage of our journey!

The Nautilus has landed!

I have been selected as a tester for the new GRACO Nautilus Carseat (Group 1-2-3), you will be able to follow my families’ journey with it here, twitter and more!

Once upon a time there was a family of four, they were selected to try out a carseat and it all began when a big box was delivered! It was like Christmas had come early – Mummy was excited at the prospect of a new item to test, Daddy was geared up to set about fitting his new ‘gadget’ and the two year old was soooo excited about his new chair that had a space for his drink!!! The baby was not so bothered by the whole thing, drifting in and out of sleep – well she is only 12 weeks old so can be excused!

So the package was opened and the delightful looking chair was revealed, Mummy’s first thought was that it was big, but actually the term should of been grown up! It is no bigger in bulkiness than the group 1 chair already used and this one covers group 1, 2 and 3 (It goes form 9 months old to 12 years!). It just looked more like a seat than a baby chair!

The two year old is very impressed and can’t wait to get it in the car to use!

Look out soon for a blog about fitting and our first journey with it!!!
