In every child’s life there is a toy that becomes a friend and in our house that toy is Mette (although her name has been changed to Sally by Mouse).

Mette is a little scamp doll from Haba, a fully material doll with lovely colours, fun clothing and a wonderful air of quality. She is very well made and even after having been flung about and being cuddled to within an inch of her being, the seams are well and truly secure.  She is beautiful with a shock of orange hair (much to Monkey’s delight as it matches his) and is lovely and soft!

Mette has provided endless amount of fun and is great for inspiring imagination!

The best bit for Mummy is that she is also washable!

Mouse has danced, played, sang, cuddled and more with her new found friend and I think she will be a member of the family for a long time to come!!

Guess what I saw this weekend?  Something I have not seen for months, it was bright and warm and so beautiful! You guessed it, it was the sun!

I am sure you can all guess what sun means to Monkey and Mouse too, extra outdoor play! We have had some additions to the garden recently, so it was definitely time to hit the garden and have some fun!

They were in and out the play house, playing ball and in the sand pit. The Toadstool has sent us some sand toys from Haba to ‘Toad Test’, so this was the perfect opportunity!

Sand Toys HabaWe were sent some ‘food’ type toys and the kids couldn’t wait to get playing with them. We had a real meal to get through, Pizza, Chips and cakes, we even had a shaker for toppings!

The kids enjoyed it so, so much and mummy enjoyed her tray of sand cakes! They are all very easy to use, and made well, they are plastic but pretty. The only thing is if your sand is too wet and clumpy the shaker doesn’t work as well, but this hasn’t deterred the kids at all!

The toys have stayed out in the sand box for a few days and are still in perfect condition!

These are ideal toys for getting kids into the garden and they don’t break the bank either, they develop imagination, motor skills and interaction between family members! I have never seen this type of sand toy before, they are so unique and the kids are going mad for them – they want to know if we can get big cakes and sauce to finish of the meal!

Do you remember when I posted my ‘Wet February’ Post? Remember how I took up the challenge to drink the recommended amount of water? Well, this is the post that tells you how it went!

So, Brita sent me over a Marella Filter Jug to use at home and a Fill & Go bottle for out and about to make it easier! Well, what can I say – the first week or so was easy, fill up my bottle, take it to work and drink, drink, drink! Then when at home switch to the Jug!

At first I felt like I was constantly drinking (and constantly nipping to the loo), but my body soon got used to the extra liquid and I think it started to like it! The Fill & Go Bottle is basically a filter jug’s more sleek and transportable little brother!

We then went away and I will be completely honest, I forgot to drink my allotted amount. I replaced water with fizzy pop and I suffered! My skin was no longer hydrated, it felt dry and my chin suffered an influx of mountain sized spots!

So, I have picked up the Fill & Go Bottle and positioned it on my desk for the last week or so back at work and oh my word, how I love my bottle. Having it right there means that I don’t forget to drink it, and it does make me feel good. It is great to have fresh tasting water on tap (or bottle).

I just need to remember to bring it home at the weekend to continue the good work!!

I love my Fill & Go – give it a go!

I am not sure who is more excited, the kids, me or the hubby!  We can’t believe it has come around so quickly, Three more sleeps…or maybe three more nights of excited tossing and turning non sleep until we head off on our Butlins Ambassadors trip!

We can’t wait, the last three months have been tough. We seem to have picked up every illness going, work has been stressful and some days I really struggle with not having quality time with the family. So, this holiday is an opportunity to spend a lot of time together, have some fun and hopefully relax!

We are heading to the Shoreline Hotel in Bognor Regis for some Easter fun, we are looking forward to so much, at the minute we are not sure how we are going to fit it all in!

Of course, whilst we are there, we have a job to do!  We are there to report back to you what it is like to have a break at Butlins! The kids will mainly be testing the entertainment, the hubby has the job of food critique and me? Well, anything to do with relaxation…the hotel room, the ease of the week, the little things that only mums notice!

So what do you really want to know? Have you visited before and want to know if something has changed? Do you particularly want to know about the hotels? Let me know and I will try and answer all!

We were recently sent the Olly The Little White Van – Catch Me If You Can DVD to take a look at. The kids were excited to see it, Mouse particularly saw Justin Fletcher on the front cover and started jumping up and down wanting to watch it ‘NOW’!!

Monkey and Mouse settled down on the beanbag and we pressed play, they then sat enthralled at all 13 episodes.

Olly is a little white van who provides BIG fun, they watched it all and as soon as it had finished Mouse wanted to watch again! The adventures were easy to follow and the animation is bright, colourful and fabulous! Justin (as always) is a perfect voice for the character who gives the kids smiles and lots of fun. If your little one is a fan of other animated programmes or of CITV, you won’t go far wrong with this one!

The DVD also includes a free colouring sheet, which Mouse insists must go on her wall right away! They have loved this DVD and now look out for it to watch on the TV too! This is a sure win for Olly fans and I think for children who don’t know him….yet!

My dad was visiting from abroad and stayed with us for  a few days. On an evening we had to find something to do that suited both him and Me and Oh. So, a film night!

Argo is a film hubby has waited for ages to watch. My dad and I had heard of it and it won lots oscars so it must be a good choice, right?!

We got some nice drinks and a few nibbles and all settled down to watch.

I am not sure what I was expecting, I knew it was a dramatic thriller with a serious story line, I knew it had the Awesome Ben Affleck both starring in it and directing it and I knew that loads of people had said how good it was, but I didn’t really know the story to come!

The synopsis reads:

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Well, we were in for a real treat, it wasn’t a nicey nice film but it was a VERY good film. The story is serious, but this is a good thing, it keeps you really enthralled as you walk the story with them! It really is thrilling, in parts I was feeling the same emotions as the characters, fear, anxiety and then….well I can’t tell you the final one – it might give away the end!

You can certainly see why this film won oscars, the acting is brilliant, the interpretation of the story is amazing, I now know what happened and I even felt how it was to be there!

An amazing film, a definite must watch.

Disclosure: Argo was given to me free of charge for the purpose of this review, but all opinions are honest

We are a house with a love of books, from before he was two Monkey would learn books from you reading them a couple of times and recite them back to you. The one thing everyone in the house has in common is a love of reading!

That has meant that a big chunk of our family time has been spent reading books together over the years and has become a solid part of the bedtime routine!

We were sent ‘Look Out Ladybird‘ by Little Tiger Press to have a look at! A brand new Lazy Ladybird adventure whereLadybird is learning to Fly. She doesn’t take to it straight away so there is ome fun along the way!

Both The Monkey and The Mouse have loved this book, the pictures are lovely, so colourful and bold. The writing is great, flows well and provides a fun story! Mouse is nearly 3 and wants it read to her over and over! Monkey is just starting his adventure of reading by himself, he found there were words to help him practice too!

This has a firm place on the book shelf, with many bedtime reading sessions to come!
