IMG_20130419_184934It may have been someones birthday this weekend, someone who doesn’t like big fusses or even really acknowledging that it is happening! But on this particular birthday this year, someone may have had an awesome time, may have even enjoyed it! (Don’t worry there will be a bigger blog post about the awesomeness!). Just thought I would share a little taster, well actually a big tasty ‘oh my word, I want it again’ taster of the day!

The lovely Laura from Yummy Mummy Flabby Tummy has tagged me to join in with this Christmas meme.

So here goes, let’s get into the Christmas Spirit! f29b755f7f0763532e6527d4eb245555

Q1. What’s your favourite thing about Christmas?

My favourite thing has to be the smiles! The smiles from everyone because of the atmosphere, the hugs, the food, the gifts, the spending time together – I love the smiles!

Q2. What’s your favourite make-up look for the festive season?

I don’t tend to wear make up, too much effort in day to day life! But for Christmas it has to be a spot of lip gloss and a red and white hat!

Q3. Real or fake tree?

Fake! I like the idea of a real one, but with two young kiddies we have thought a fake one is more practical!

Q4. Giving or receiving presents?

Giving! I love giving! Every year I am told that my Christmas List is pathetic. But the truth is my head is so full of ideas for others, that I can only think of things I need rather than things I want, and people don’t want to buy me a frying pan or new cutlery for Christmas!

I love the giving of Christmas, the thinking of what someone would like, the buying, the wrapping and the smiles!
Q5. Do you open your presents on Christmas morning or evening?

Both! We get up and if Santa has been we have a look through stockings! Then heading down stairs, the kids will open one or two before a special breakfast and getting dressed! Then we have a few here and there and are often opening gifts in the evening too!

Q6. Handmade Christmas cards or bought?

Bought. Love the idea of making them, but I am just far to lazy!

Q7. What’s your favourite Christmas film?

OOO far too many! Muppets Christmas Carol and the Grinch are definite. I love Elf. Scrooged, er The Santa Claus, oh I can’t decide! Hubby says it is Star Wars.

Q8. What’s your favourite Christmas food?

Does Mulled wine class as food?

I am a veggie, so Turkey doesn’t take part! I do love Sprouts (I know I am in the minority!). Christmas Pud and Stollen are always present too!

And now I tag some these bloggers to share their Christmas with me!

This week over on the Sticky Fingers Gallery the theme is old, so here is my photo that was taken in the garden in a house I used to live in! I love that you can almost see the years in it!

Rachel from Mummy Glitzer tagged my in an Olympic Meme – so here are my answers!

1) If every day tasks were Olympic events, what would you get a gold medal in?

Hmmm, can playing on twitter be one?

No, ok I will go for preparing a buffet, I am known for my buffets (not very far but known), I love to feed people, so buffets are perfect, lots of food and something for everyone!

2) As a child (or even now), did you excel at a particular sport and if so which one?

As a child I had a short period of being ok at sports, the hurdles were a favourite, until one day I ran up to one and thought ‘what am I doing, I can’t jump over that’ and since that day the height of a hurdle has put me off! Swimming was a favourite as a child, I loved being underwater, the feel of the water, the freedom swimming gave, now….I am a little bit unsure by water going in my ears!

3) Michael Phelps (swimmer) or Michael Johnson (runner) – which sport appeals to you more?

Swimming, despite what I said above about water in my ears, I still love swimming, just with my head out of the water!

4) How fast can you get out of bed and ready to go out the door if miss the alarm and sleep in?

Well, going on my recent attempts to get out of bed and get to work quickly in the midst of tiredness, I would say 20 Minutes for work! But I think I could hit 15 if not for work!

5) What fantasy sport would you like to see made into an Olympic event?

Supermarket shopping with Children – I know it is not technically a sport, but it feels like it! I always feel like I have done the 800 meters followed by a round of boxing!

6) Claim to fame time – Have you ever met an Olympian and who was it?

When I was in infant school I met and had a photo with Kathy Cook! She was on a tour with weetabix to promote the following olympics I think!

7) What event in past Olympics can you remember most vividly?

Something about Ben Johnson winning the 100m ahead of Linford Christie and Carl Lewis, but then being disqualified for drug use leaving Carl the winner!

8) Tuning in at home, not for me or tickets clamped ready in sweaty palms?

Not really my thing in a ‘must get on a train and go see it right now’ kind of way, so no tickets here, although I am sure we will watch some of it on the TV – well it is a major event!

9) Who do you think most deserves a gold medal (any walk of life not just Olympians).

My husband, being a stay at home dad! He looks after the two kiddies, runs back and forth to school and nursery, brings things to me at work when I am forgetful, does the housework, cooks tea and generally is fab!

I hand the baton to:

The lovely Fiona across at Coombe Mill was kind enough to tag me in The Versatile Blogger Award Meme!  But in order to receive the award, I am to share five random facts about me with you! So here goes…………………..

Random Fact #1 – I am a Vegetarian and no I don’t eat fish! I once went to a hotel where the ONLY vegetarian option was tuna pasta bake, I asked what they had for those other vegetarians who don’t eat meat or fish and she said I could have a plate of veg and potatoes!

Random Fact #2 – I love cheese! I can eat almost any cheese, for our wedding we had a cheese cake (Not a cheesecake, but a cake made of cheese) . My favourite cheese is shropshire blue, I love Halloumi grilled, I would eat cheese morning, noon and night! I also get particularly excited when I know I am going to have cheese and biscuits at the end of a meal, forget the other courses……….bring on the cheese!

Random Fact #3 – I used to have my belly button pierced and three earrings in each ear! Now I hardly ever wear pierced jewellery, well I barely wear jewellery. I sport my engagement, wedding and eternity ring (all i which I love) and now and again wear funky necklaces!

Random Fact #4 – I am a trained Baby Signing Practitioner, something I may have briefly mentioned before! But I love it, I am a massive advocate of Baby Sign and dream of running my own classes with little ones and mums and introducing them into the world of early communication and to be frank the fun of singing and reading with Sign!

A Baby Signing Mummy Star – Sally Signing Cold

Random Fact #5 – I have started my Christmas Shopping! Yes I know I am completely bonkers! I used to be the type that would leave it until December, rush around and panic buy! But then I had kids and I started doing it a little early, through October-December to spread the cost a little, to make it less painful! Then it got to August because I was lucky to win a couple of things so thought, may as well start now! But this year, it is pure and simply down to the fact I LOVE a bargain, if I see something that I want and it is cheap, I will get it instead of waiting for the price to go back up!

Now I am to tag five others to do the same and win the award, so they are (Drum roll please………….)
