As you all know the kids love books, they are a major part of the bedtime routine, the chill out time and the ‘I don’t know what else to do’ time!

Dr Duck is a book full of delightful animals who are a bit poorly sick. Dr Duck comes to the rescue with his own touch of fixing things! It is really well written, the illustrations are fantastic and best of all it is hilarious!   This book has very quickly earned a spot as top book in our house! Both the Monkey and the Mouse are asking for this book over and over again!

The storyline, the flow of the words and the smells are all awesome and we have all been entertained by it on several occasion, it gets the kids (and the grown ups) giggling every time!

I am certain Dr Duck will come out as soon as the kids uncle comes over this weekend, they will no doubt want to share the Gorillas troubles and I know Uncle N will love it too!dr duck 2

It has made us all laugh a lot, and we are sure it will remain a firm favourite for quite a while!  Dr Duck really is the best doctor ever and I think he could make anyone smile!

A perfect book for a poorly child, a birthday or a Daddy!

At the end of March (within three days of each other) Monkey and Mouse had birthdays. With the parties and celebrating, work, holiday and more work I am only now getting to write this!  Mouse turned 3 and her older brother 5, I cant believe I no longer have a baby!

We did, however have a fantastic time celebrating! I managed to have the time off work; we had Pastries for Breakfast, a joint Fancy Dress party complete with bouncy castle and caterpillar jelly, time with family, lots of cuddles, food at Frankie and Benny’s and more! It was like a four day birthday!

The kids had a whale of a time, I really enjoyed seeing them so smiley and really relishing their time with people they love, however I do of course have to get my head around them being another year older which is always tough!

Just a couple of quick notes to the kids!

Dear Monkey, my big 5 year old!

Happy Birthday, another year older and my how you have grown up in the last year! You started school in September and are doing amazingly well. You are so enthusiastic to learn and have made lots of friends! You are a very smart little boy especially with the way you have grasped Maths and reading! You can be serious, but that is you, always observing, always learning. When you play using your imagination it is amazing to see, your cheekiness keeps everyone smiling and when you really let go and laugh, you light up a room in a second! Keep smiling mister, you’re awesome and we love it!

Love you lots and always will, Mummy xx

Dear Mouse,

I can’t believe that you are now 3, no longer my baby! You started five mornings of nursery this term and you can’t wait to go every morning. You are developing so fast and are following your brother in your learning, another one who has a head for Maths! You are beautiful and your smile can make anyones day! You are so cuddly and always have a kiss (or seven) for Mummy and Daddy! Keep on being you mouse, you are awesome!

Love you lots and always will, Mummy xx

photo of the weekWe have had a great week this week with two birthdays! The guitar is actually Monkey’s pressie from grandparents but he happily shares with Mouse.  I see a musical future for them both (although I think Mouse will be a drummer!). I love this photo!

I am not sure who is more excited, the kids, me or the hubby!  We can’t believe it has come around so quickly, Three more sleeps…or maybe three more nights of excited tossing and turning non sleep until we head off on our Butlins Ambassadors trip!

We can’t wait, the last three months have been tough. We seem to have picked up every illness going, work has been stressful and some days I really struggle with not having quality time with the family. So, this holiday is an opportunity to spend a lot of time together, have some fun and hopefully relax!

We are heading to the Shoreline Hotel in Bognor Regis for some Easter fun, we are looking forward to so much, at the minute we are not sure how we are going to fit it all in!

Of course, whilst we are there, we have a job to do!  We are there to report back to you what it is like to have a break at Butlins! The kids will mainly be testing the entertainment, the hubby has the job of food critique and me? Well, anything to do with relaxation…the hotel room, the ease of the week, the little things that only mums notice!

So what do you really want to know? Have you visited before and want to know if something has changed? Do you particularly want to know about the hotels? Let me know and I will try and answer all!

We were recently sent the Olly The Little White Van – Catch Me If You Can DVD to take a look at. The kids were excited to see it, Mouse particularly saw Justin Fletcher on the front cover and started jumping up and down wanting to watch it ‘NOW’!!

Monkey and Mouse settled down on the beanbag and we pressed play, they then sat enthralled at all 13 episodes.

Olly is a little white van who provides BIG fun, they watched it all and as soon as it had finished Mouse wanted to watch again! The adventures were easy to follow and the animation is bright, colourful and fabulous! Justin (as always) is a perfect voice for the character who gives the kids smiles and lots of fun. If your little one is a fan of other animated programmes or of CITV, you won’t go far wrong with this one!

The DVD also includes a free colouring sheet, which Mouse insists must go on her wall right away! They have loved this DVD and now look out for it to watch on the TV too! This is a sure win for Olly fans and I think for children who don’t know him….yet!

My dad was visiting from abroad and stayed with us for  a few days. On an evening we had to find something to do that suited both him and Me and Oh. So, a film night!

Argo is a film hubby has waited for ages to watch. My dad and I had heard of it and it won lots oscars so it must be a good choice, right?!

We got some nice drinks and a few nibbles and all settled down to watch.

I am not sure what I was expecting, I knew it was a dramatic thriller with a serious story line, I knew it had the Awesome Ben Affleck both starring in it and directing it and I knew that loads of people had said how good it was, but I didn’t really know the story to come!

The synopsis reads:

“Based on true events, Warner Bros. Pictures’ and GK Films’ dramatic thriller “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.”

Well, we were in for a real treat, it wasn’t a nicey nice film but it was a VERY good film. The story is serious, but this is a good thing, it keeps you really enthralled as you walk the story with them! It really is thrilling, in parts I was feeling the same emotions as the characters, fear, anxiety and then….well I can’t tell you the final one – it might give away the end!

You can certainly see why this film won oscars, the acting is brilliant, the interpretation of the story is amazing, I now know what happened and I even felt how it was to be there!

An amazing film, a definite must watch.

Disclosure: Argo was given to me free of charge for the purpose of this review, but all opinions are honest
